Children

Nursery

We offer a fully staffed nursery to aid young families at every regularly scheduled ministry at Calvary. Our nursery facility is a large, airy, cheerful room with ample space for babies in cribs, playpens, and swings, yet still with room for toddlers to move about. Our workers are skilled in child care. The nursery ministry serves newborns through age two.

Junior Church

Our Junior Church program is not simply child care during church services. It is the foundational care of children aimed at preparing them for worship. Junior Church is staffed by experienced and competent adults (often assisted by dedicated teens in training) and systematically trains young lives in foundations of church and worship. The children learn to sing songs together, pray together, listen to Bible stories together, and follow up with animated question & answer sessions together. Often this is followed up with opportunities to play act the Biblical stories learned. Junior Church serves children two years of age to five.

Sunday School

We have a Sunday School ministry for every age, with actual classes in session for children age two and continuing to the oldest adult. Our Sunday School is focused upon exposing the student with an overview of God’s Word in a systematic way, covering Genesis through Revelation in a curriculum geared to the maturity level of the student. Part of this ministry also includes a Sunday School music ministry with a goal of training musicians and giving them service opportunities through the discipline of offertory preparation, special music, and children’s and youth choirs. In addition, our high school men are also given the opportunity to lead in pledges and song leading in opening exercises.

Calvary Club

Calvary Club is our exciting and challenging outreach for elementary age children (Kindergarten through 6thgrade.) We meet in general session one Saturday every month from September through May. However, the children are active throughout the month in areas of memorization, recitation, and other team meetings. The goal of Calvary Club is to know and memorize the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Then the work of discipleship can begin with the homes of the clubbers in all the dimensions of the Great Commission. We hope to see spiritual birth as children and parents find Jesus Christ as Savior. We then work to see growth in the Biblical discipleship of our clubbers and their families. The focus of Calvary Club is on Bible memorization (Psalm 119:11). The children are encouraged to participate in systematic memorization of scripture, participate in visitor outreach, become familiar with the books of the Bible, recite and understand the plan of salvation as outlined in the Wordless Book, memorize what occurred on the days of creation as stated in Genesis 1-2, and also to compete in games and activities of the monthly Calvary Club meetings.

Camp Calvary

One week every July we offer a summer youth camp. Our summer camp is actually two camps in one. Even though Elementary Camp and High School Camp occur on the same week and at the same location in rural Lancaster County, PA., the camps each have their own separate schedules, activities, chapels, and other events. Camp Calvary is predominately staffed by competent adult members from our church who sacrifice a week of their vacation to serve the Lord in this vital ministry. We have a rich heritage of experienced counselors working with campers who know each other personally. The spiritual impact of this dynamic ministry is significant, especially over the progression of many years of camp. Camp Calvary is truly one of the highlights of our annual church calendar.
